I freeze in place
To try and escape

Trees stretch into the sky
Wooden branches blend into metal arms
Buds lengthen into claws
Snatching orbs of light

We no longer exist
Stir our hearts together
As they crumble into clouds of dust

A prosthetic spectrum
Of fluorescent beams
Form the cage we have always
Called home

Familiarity:Vanquished

Primal flame remains

Mountains collapse
The oceans fold over themselves
In slow motion

Our existence fades
As we stand in awe

This is something I’ve written during the course of Covid, and polished more recently. It is inspired by the immense amount of alone time that came with everything over the last couple years. I’m not sure this is the “final product” Or done being worked on. But maybe someone else can relate to the deep feelings of directionless/loneliness. Keep moving forward. One baby step at a time.

Vision fixed on plaster spread above me
I fall away from reality
Autonomy fades
Into the consumption of isolation

My mind stirs endlessly
To maintain an inner self dialogue
That fabricates a sense of company
But it all sounds the same

It all sounds the fucking same

Daylight bleeds into pinks and purples
That swirl into the night
Where I am found echoing to myself
Survival by forced self discovery

The passing of time
Is no longer a metric that applies to me
I am constant within my own self

As minutes drip into hours
Hours flow into days
And days bleed into weeks
Where they smear into months and years

Application removed by submission
It will certainly end me.
But I must continue by any means.
It must be done.
