✦ At the Crossroads ✦

Another character from my story (which is mostly just in my head at the moment and doesn't really have a name yet oh no). This is Taaru, who is stuck defending themself at the "Crossroads", somewhere in another universe... More about them later - I'll be making more paintings with these characters and exploring them as I go!

I find it so difficult when I can see what I want to paint in my head but it just doesn't come out how I want it. I suppose all artists have this problem! Strangely, though, the face of this character did come out how I intended. :)

It's been a year already. Strange that it's been so long. My life has had to go on without her, I've forged a new normal.

I've found that my feelings of grief are ones I must visit at chosen times, like an old friend. Too long without a visit and it feels wrong. But too often becomes overwhelming.

I painted this a few years ago, painting it as the moment happened. I want to think that the past still exists, that I'm still there painting her. I envy that version of me, but I still have all those memories of our years together and I carry them into the future as a core part of me.

So I tried learning a bit of Unity and this is what I made! Just a 2D animation thing. It was a lot to learn but now I am way more familiar with unity. Quite a nice way to make static animations like this. I'd also like to try animating with Blender - I'm planning a big personal animation project, just for fun!

✦ Silent Suffering ✦

This one is pretty dark. That's because my prompt for today was to try to express "anger". For me that means the injustices of the world - humans and animals used as objects, when all are so precious. We're all here together, none made for any other... waking up into this universe for a while and then returning again. Each an individual with their own perspective.

✦ Huevember 3 - Keep Going ✦

This is about carrying on through hard times and not getting stuck in the past, which is easier with other people there. This was an interesting one to paint - I started with a very vague idea and then these two characters appeared, survivors of a plane wreck. Their journey onwards will be uncertain but they must have hope things will get better.
