There are more distortions than I can possibly cover in one post, but I did my best to highlight the most common ones. REMEMBER, these aren't grounds for dismissing your feelings. Your feelings are valid. They were, are, and will always be. This is something for YOU to be able to recognise unhelpful patterns and fight them. 

Everyone has cognitive distortions. Your cognitive distortions aren't your fault. It isn't your fault that you were dealt with situations where the brain had to adopt such behaviours, such styles of thinking. Be easy on yourself, you deserve that much ♥

This post got a bit wordier than I anticipated, but it's super important. It is one of the reasons why pwBPD experience "splitting". It's traumatic, it's painful. It sucks to relive painful moments that seem to be seared into our memory. But, there's a way out. It's probably not what you want to hear, but it's *drum roll* therapy. I wish there was a more accessible, quicker way. But that's alright. Baby steps, you've got this. ❤️

There's a reason BPD is historically known to be on the borderline of psychosis. There is considerable overlap. 

Psychotic symptoms can be extremely scary, but understanding what is happening to you can help.

Feelings aren't inherently bad or good, all of them are valid! No matter the intensity. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You ARE NOT being over sensitive, anything you feel is valid. We can't control our emotions, we shouldn't try to. Our actions however, are something we can control.

Say it with me, YOU ARE VALID. YOUR EMOTIONS ARE VALID.

BPD is highly stigmatized. This causes problems in diagnosis, treatment, getting a job, and affects basically every facet of life. Fighting an extremely painful disorder is hard enough, please don't add to the stigma and make us fight another battle.
