2022 was a challenging year on many levels. But it was also a creative and fulfilling one. We found a lot of new friends over a Paintwater Soup and the community as a whole. We got into KDM, painted our first busts, worked with oils, really learnt to use the Airbrush and got pushed out of our comfort zone. Thank you to the community, and especially @pwsxthedicefactory, the Paint Water Soup at Discord. The VCs with you are motivating, stupendously entertaining and helpful! We still can’t quite believe it 😅 (pls read 👇) This year we started traveling to conventions like Moson and SMC and were blown away by the sheer amount of absolutely amazing painters 🎉 we met and geeked out about their works So to relieve it the other way around was mind blowing to us 👀👀 We feel so welcome in this community 🎁 Without a lot of ambition we brought a few models (i forgot mine, realizing at the airport ha ha…🙄) and entered. Only to see a STICKER for a medal and a highly commended on it and we went NUTS So can you imagine what a rollercoaster we went through that day, knowing that something we did was worth SILVER 🥈 We are so proud And we also proud that it was something worth so much personally to us too ❤️❤️ This year Gerald went through it and learned ZBrush and transformed his now 10 year old Pathfinder character, the ruthless goblin pirate “Black Bill” , into an highly detailed resin scalemodel Emotions high, we were close to tears, the excitement itching. And we were not alone. (2/2) Ohhh yeah, more creepy things 🧛💀 We had a chat with the lovely guys from @sculptinglosttimes with an exclusive selection of creepy story rich figures with almost KDM like details We talked for a while about their minis and decided on the red riding hood - oh boy - her AXE IS ALIVE and the picnic basket is not filled with food 👹 I’m already thinking how a plinth could transport her fully into the haunted black forest she is hunting in… We checked out the amazing line of @pedrofernandezworks @insomniaminiatures TINY MINI Busts 🤏🏻 Well… Actually we bought even more, and split them with the amazing @gabisflyingcolours (who made this adventure into such an incredible experience for us - THANK YOU GABI ❤️❤️) Also 3x evil forest spirits caught our eyes where our imagination ran wild 🧠I checked all the vendors for fitting plinths but it seems we will model smth exclusively for them 🙌 At the @creepytables booth I had to get the Svitiaz Nymph 🦴- I love her regal pose crowned with flowers 💐 and the rabbit in her arms 🐇 - undead women with animals just speak to me 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ The we picked up this amazing piece by @mokha_blue “The Lake Elf and the Fairy” 🧚 She is such a gorgeous canvas 📖 either at night with stars reflecting in the water or an escaped drow with tattoos her back or someone who wants to be a happy housewife? The possibilities 😵❤️‍🔥 Oouroboros is almost a little too classic for my taste, but Gerald was all over the BRAVE Orc mini @ouroborosminiatures so he had to take it - and yes they bring an iconic vibe to the table At Centurion miniatures I discovered 2 plate prints of a Koi fish 🐟 and 2 birds 🐦🐦 For a while now I wanted to try a relief plate, so let's see what happens 🤷🏼‍♀️ Literally before the award ceremony we walked past #tgcmcreation army minis from their game “Kharn-Age” and one model jumped at us both: a mini bust of a hyena So that was our hobby haul from the SMC 🙏 #sculptinglosttimes #insomniaminiatures #creepytables #mokhablue #ouroborosminiatures #tgcmcreation #scalemodelchallenge #hobbyhaul #miniaturepainting #figurepainting #scalemodel #resinbust #paintingminiatures #fantasyfigures
(1/2) Our first SMC is over and OH BOY we could not fit anymore into our bags for our flight home ✈️ You should have seen the look on the security gals faces when they were looking at our stuff 👀👀 and we stood there fingers crossed 🤞 We went for figures that supported to be a canvas to express ideas and so we talked a lot with the creators. Like the Owl warrior and Miss Veil from @owlsome_creations 🦉 We were promised a video on translucent fabric by @oracz.art so we’re looking forward to it 😍 Next we picked up the smokin’ hot 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Silvestris Smoker by @inukingdoms We already tried our hand at a different version, but this one is so close to the original stunning art from @lutodelle and carried so much more of her expressive and mischievous energy we just could not pass her by We also toppled over @denis.minis just sitting there sculpting and we were like WHAAAAT 🤯 and picked up this amazing Oni Warrior of his, coming with alternate weapons and a great base - I took an extra pic of him, such a great pose, such great detail 😍 We just love handsculped minis ❤️ After that I had a serious talk (no, just kidding) with the guys over at @midguard_miniatures - (they had a bad spot next to Kimera) because they were THE ONLY manufacturer who GAVE YOU A PLINTH WITH THE FIGURE 💥💥💥- almost grabbed a spraycan to write it on the wall behind them 🙈 Their figures have great little details like a CYBER Ratatöskyr (the Squirrel 🐿️ ) in her hand !!! They presented them with stunning colourful and expressive paintjobs - and we LOVE that! I don’t know when I will have the time to play some Warhammer40k. I’m still processing the lessons on NMM. But it’s an intoxicating technique 🤪 I wanted to create a pulpy 80ies action flick/movie / retro poster atmosphere, maybe some explosions in the background. It has happened, read this 👇 This year I transformed my now 10 year old Pathfinder character, the ruthless goblin pirate “Black Bill” , into meatspace ❤️‍🔥 as a highly detailed 75mm resin scalemodel.  Sometimes ideas are like tiny seeds🌱. They need nurturing🧑‍🌾 and the right environment⛰️ The developments of 3dprinting and my sculpting lessons with @barone_artwork were the creative fertilizer I needed 💥🎨 The last two years I made great friends 🤗 and connections in the tabletop miniaturepainting community @pwsxthedicefactory.
